THE GIRL WHO SINGS TO DRAGONS
CONCEPT
The Client commissioned a custom book cover for his fantasy genre novel, The Girl Who Sings To Dragons. The artwork should set a darker mood at a forest's edge. A background of gray-toned trees achieves this goal. Requested elements include banners for the houses featured in the story, each with a swan or wolf respectively, and three black shields featuring dragons of gold, green, and white. A wolf skull nestles in the grass, and arrows with red feathers appear buried alongside. Bursts of red among the gray tones add contrast and are a nod to the color red, featured in the forests of the story. Bright green and gold stand in stark contrast to the grays of the background and draw the eye.A customized font for the title, glistening gold, ties in the gold of the wolf and dragon and rounds out the composition. The back and spine of the cover are a continuation of the tangled forest trees and vines featured on the front cover.
