THE BOX
CONCEPT & COLOR PALETTE
STORYLINE | After the personal tragedy that altered Carrie's life forever but before her dynamic transformation in The Redemption Series, Carrie was learning to be a good OSBI agent beside Randy Jeffries. This novella is a case that stumped them both. Young middle school girls were suddenly going missing. The lack of clues and witnesses nearly drove Carrie mad. Finally, one sliver of hope came in a longshot lead. Will Carrie make yet another bad decision that will only cause more risk to the missing girls, or will she stumble upon a killer? The concept is that of a dark forest of secrets, the buried box (the subject of the title) as a backdrop and frame of the title and author. The composition is a simple one, with limited elements and palette, allowing the box to remain the focal point, and the greens of the forest to act as a contrast to the black and gray hues.Green, Glorious GreenThe yellow and lime green palette lends well to the cover in multiple ways. The green is the same hue used on the primary Carrie Border novel, it applies well to the wooded backdrop of the story, and when paired with the black of the box, shadows, and silhouettes, it is a fittingly eerie combination that suits the darker nature of the novella.
PRAISE FROM THE CLIENT
"When I opened Angela’s portfolio the first time, it took my breath away. I knew then that I was looking at a rare artist whose work showed her talent, her skill and her imagination. Her technique was so flawless that you didn’t notice the medium, but the story and emotion that she had endeavored to express on the page. I know that her work has evolved since that moment when I first saw it, but the evolution is something wonderful in and of itself. You will never be disappointed when you choose Angela to assist you in whatever art or graphic design project you need done." - Nancy Jackson
